I've kindly been sent a MagicBed - revolutionary cot-in-a-bag/pop up cot - to review and these are my findings, happy reading!
MagicBed carrier bag, complete with zipped storage pouch up front. |
CONCEPT
Magicbed also claims to be 4x lighter than the average travel cot.
Well GOOD! To both of the above points!
Let me tell you, a 'travel cot' brings back memories of a 2 person setup and 3 person put away. Heavy, clunky and impossible to get back in its carrier. So yeah, up to now, MagicBed's concept is appealing.
MagicBed all set up! |
PRODUCT USE
It's light, it's slick and it's a damn sight better looking than the travel cots of old. Beautifully gender neutral, in choclate, this isn't a clunky item, but it's certainty sturdy enough to be fit for purpose. In fact, MagicBed has been tested and certified for folding children's beds until 3 years of age so think play pen / nap time etc for when baby grows older too.
There are two pockets at each end, only large enough for perhaps one folded nappy. Maybe better used for dummies or muslin cloths, or how about a baby monitor or a musical toy to aid with your babies napping?
Complete with folded mattress that you simply need to pop in to the hidden insert beneath base, it really is all you need in one simple bag.
Popping it back in the bag proved a tad difficult for me - but ONLY because my bump and boobs where so totally in the way! After watching their handy video's on the MagicBed website (www.magic-bed.com), I quickly realised that I don't need to see over my lumpy bits, it's as easy as twist, clip and bag. Panic over!!
MagicBed's RANGE
OVERALL OPINION
I really am impressed with the ease of use coupled with the charming design. Aesthetically pleasing, compact, light, no-fuss, and a very reasonable cost of just £109 - I can potentially get up to 3 years of use out of this convenient cot. It's a must for expectant parents in my opinion and I am very grateful to have received this item to review for myself. I can't wait to get some use out of it now!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review and giveaway! We go over to my parents holiday home on the Isle of Arran loads and this would be great to keep over there rather than having to take on in the car each time when we have enough to carry!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab item. Would really come in handy for holidays, at home as a play pen or like you said, for naps as baby gets older.
ReplyDeletefor ourselves when my niece or nephew come over for holidays etc
ReplyDeleteInteresting fact - I have taken a penalty on the pitch at Old Trafford at half time!
ReplyDeleteHehe! As a Liverpool fan (complete with liver bird tattoo!!) I won't hold that against you ;-) xx
DeleteI would like the bed for our grandson when he comes to visit or we take him camping
ReplyDeleteWe like to go away for weekends away, and the cotbeds we hire are not always in great condition. This would be perfect to throw into the car and go! May even give us more excuses to get away :) xx
ReplyDeleteI need one of these to take when we go away, we went somewhere that provided them, but when we got there it smelt like sick! It was so gross :(
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely and convenient for when we go out camping- there's nothing more comfortable and hygenic than using your own stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteWe go camping alot so this would be amazing, it could be used inside and outside love it.
ReplyDeleteThis would come in so handy for my two granddaughters, when they come to visit, putting them down for a sleep etc and its great that it can be folded away too x

Wow! I need this! I have a holiday coming up and a tiny car - The double buggy takes up the boot so if we don't win this we will have to take the 'normal' travel cot and not have room for our suitcase of clothes - Naked holidays anyone?!
ReplyDeleteGreat review.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for my little man, Eli when he stays over at his nanas house

ReplyDeletethis sounds amazing, so simple aswell. would love to win this!

ReplyDeleteI would love this as I childmind my friends little ones and the youngest naps on the sofa at the moment!
ReplyDeletesomething interesting about me.... I have 135,000 worth of metal in my chest! I have an internal defibrillator..every 6 years I have it changed and it has an alarm that goes off at 12pm every day when the battery gets low until it is changed, the vibration from the alarm makes me feel sick :)
ReplyDeletePerfect for when argue with other half I'm sure I could curl up.
ReplyDeleteUseful for grandchildren stay overs
Would be great for my niece
ReplyDeleteThis cot would be great to use with my 1 year old daughter. The travel cot we have at the moment is so heavy & such a faff to put up that we try to avoid using it whenever possible which kind of defeats the object of having it!
ReplyDeleteThis would mean we could babysit for my nephew at our house rather than having ton stay at my sisters, also we could all go camping together later in the year , would be amazing, thanks for the chance x
ReplyDeleteI wish to wish the wish you wish to wish, but if you wish the wish the witch wishes, I won't wish the wish you wish to wish.

ReplyDeleteMy little one sleeps with her eyes open so I need this Magic Bed!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely travel cot, haven't seen one like it before!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. We often visit friends in the evenings and end up staying quite late so we put our little girl down to sleep in one of the other rooms. Our travel cot is so big & clunky, I never seem to be able to get it up and so our little girl usually wakes herself up again before we've finished it would be fantastic to just pop this up lay her down and get on with our evening while she slept safe and sound.
ReplyDeletethis would be great for staying over places
ReplyDeleteAs a family we like to go camping so this would be perfect
ReplyDeleteWould be perfect for our soon to be new arrival when we go and visit friends and family!
ReplyDeleteBecause I plan on taking my 4 children on holiday - you need to pay a large supplement for a travel cot unless you take your own :D This would be fab !
ReplyDeleteI have been vegetarian for 17 years!
ReplyDeletespace in our car is at a premium when we're travelling about so this would be a god-send!

ReplyDeleteWe have a travel cot and I can get it up fine but I cannot pop it back to get it down which is a problem when I am on my own. SO we really need an easier one!
ReplyDeleteWe go away most weekends, in the warmer weather, in our caravan and this would be so useful for our little one as space is limited.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for my niece once she grows out of her moses basket
ReplyDeleteI am training as a childminder and this product would be fantastic. I would be able to pop it up when a child needed a sleep keeping them close by and then easily and quickly put it away afterwards.
ReplyDeleteI'm a very tired mum who is need of a kids free night and a good long nights sleep. This would give me a night off and a quick an easy put up bed for the grandparents, who can not wait for a sleep over. win win win!
ReplyDeletemy sister just had a baby on wednesday and we going on holiday together in summer to portugal this cot would be perfect for the baby
ReplyDeleteMy niece is expecting her first baby and seeing as family is spread all over the country it will be ideal for her when she is visiting.
ReplyDeleteHmm interesting fact about me: well I can pick pens and pencils up with my toes! My dad used to purposefully drop them on the floor when I was sat next to him just so he could watch me do it and laugh. Recently I realised I can also pick up bits of lego after standing on a piece :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea making traveling with a little one no problem
ReplyDeleteid love to be able to get up and go for the night without having to worry about when baby will sleep
ReplyDeletethis would be great ive never been able to put a travel cot together!
ReplyDeletemy lilttle bean isn't even here yet and between my parents/in laws and the rest of the family apparently we are going to lincolnshire, norfolk and nottingham. This is going to be one travelled little one. I'm only 14 weeks at the min!
ReplyDeleteIdeal for my niece, Nice and compact
ReplyDeleteTo take on holiday in the summer for my niece and her new born baby
ReplyDeleteit will be handy to use when we go to nannys house
ReplyDeleteI need this bed for my lovely nephews and niece when they come to stay - it's so annoying having to borrow from friends and not have one myself!
ReplyDeleteLove to win this as we are going away in may on holl would be fab .x
ReplyDeletemy baby girl is 1 week today this would be ideal when we travel
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fabulous, we are having a little girl soon and this would be so much help when we go visit family :)
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for my friend who's due in a couple of months. She lives quite far from family and doesn't drive, but this looks easy enough to carry on trains/coaches when she goes to visit her parents. Or to chuck in a taxi and come over to stay with any of her friends.
ReplyDeleteOur 2nd baby is due in April and we really struggled with overnight stays with number 1. In hindsight, something like this would have been perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for us - I too remember having really big awkward travel cots. It's nice to see that these things can improve :)
ReplyDeleteperfect for when visiting family
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this MagicBed as my aunt is about to become a nanny for the first time and this would be amazing for her to have bonding time and mummy to get some time off :)

ReplyDeleteI didn't have a travel cot with my son and baby number 2 is coming in June and its something we definately want to have for naps in the living room so our son cant disturb him and for holidays
ReplyDeleteI would love it for my sister who is having her baby on Wednesday :)
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for me, I am going to be looking after my grandson when his mummy goes back to work, with little space this would be ideal x
ReplyDeleteI have a baby girl , and we just booked 5 days in Isle of Wight - I am in need of travel cot :)
ReplyDeleteIntersting thing about myself? I can write backwards from right to left :)
it would be brilliant for little man to sleep at nana's in
ReplyDeletelots of babies all visiting grandma - one cot fits all !!
ReplyDeleteThis would be fab when hes goes to sleep at grandma's or on holiday
ReplyDeletegreat for grand kids
ReplyDeleteWe love our little family getaways! :)
ReplyDeleteWould be great to use when we all go camping in the Summer.
ReplyDeleteSo that my children (aged 0, 1 and 3) have enough beds to sleep in when they stay at nannas
ReplyDeleteI would love this for a friend of mine.
ReplyDeletemy bro getting married in June and they trying asap for family this be perfect for when baby comes as they live few hours away . My Mum and Dad dont have much space
ReplyDeletethis would be great for holidays
ReplyDeleteI'd like to win this. It would be a nice gift for my nephew.
ReplyDeletethis would be perfect for our holidays...with a 1 year old and a 2 year old, only having to cart around one traditional, heavy, bulky travel cot would be great
ReplyDeleteWe're planning a family & need all the help we can get!!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be so useful for my grandchild. It will save much needed space and my children won't have to bring one with them when they visit.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely fantastic and a must-have! We are currently expecting a baby and have another little one under 2 and have found that when we travel to visit both my and my husband's parents the amount of stuff we have to take with us just doesn't all fit in our car!! This is only going to get worse when the baby is born! This would be invaluable to us!
ReplyDeletebecause it is a beautiful colour and perfect size for caravanning with our lo!
ReplyDeletewow this is just fab and i could really do with this as my 14 week old little boy is growing so big that he no longer fits in his moses basket and i really dont want to bring his large cot into our room as there isnt much space. i dont feel he is old enough to go in his own room yet so this would be perfect. Also it would be easier to take to nannys when we go round for the day as he has no were to sleep and feel like my arms are going to drop from holding him all the time lol would love this :)
ReplyDeleteinteresting trivia about me is that I enjoy scuba diving.
ReplyDeletewe could use this for so much, only having a small house it would be ideal for morning naps downstairs, to leet jojo play safely so i can enjoy a toilet trip on my own, for weekends away, maybe the odd night at nanas when the time comes!
ReplyDeletemy carter would love sleeping and of course playing in ths
ReplyDeleteperfect for when my sister and her million children come to stay - fun times

ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect to take on our trip to visit great grandparents :}
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for when my friends come to stay with their little ones :)
ReplyDeleteWe are going to Australia this year and this will be perfect for our trip.
ReplyDeleteOur little one doesn't like the cot or big boys bed - he flings his arms out and bashes the sides / bed guard and wakes himself up! Though we have no other option right now having no travel cot to try! Maybe this would be soft enough to not wake him, and I wouldn't have to get up. 20+ times a night!
ReplyDeleteThis is Beautiful, when we going travelling she have an nap in style!
ReplyDeleteThis would be fantastic for my little girl to travel in style when we are away from home!
ReplyDeleteWould be great for my friend's little girl to pop up in when travelling!

ReplyDeleteThis would be a great for my daughter and i coundnt afford to buy 1 so i hope i win it
ReplyDeleteapparently it is time for my baby niece and nephew to start having sleepovers only i have nowhere for them to sleep! this would be perfect as i could store it away when they arent here
ReplyDeleteBecause we have a ridiculously small house! And this is the only way we would be able to fit a travel cot in it! Also, we would have some very happy friends as we would be able to babysit overnight for them then!
ReplyDeleteOne hyperactive nephew,
ReplyDeleteDrives his mother round the bend,
The other nearly due,
This would be a God-send!
I'd be the favourite sibling,
To a brother very stressed,
Financially they're struggling.
This would be the best :)
Well i'm never going to be the next Poet Laureate! Seriously though, my nephew spends so much time at our house and we don't have space for a fixed cot for him, so this would be ideal :)
Iram Mahmood.
I'm getting married and the whole of my Irish family are coming over, sproggs and all! So I'll be needing all sorts of sleep solutions :)
ReplyDeleteWould be so handy for sleepovers
ReplyDeleteAs I live in England and my new grandson due shortly lives in Scotland this would be fantastic when they visit me as I live in a small cottage and space is limited.
ReplyDeleteExpecting my first baby so would love to win this as I don't have any baby stuff yet.
ReplyDeleteThis would be fantastic for my littlest munchkin
ReplyDeleteI have two children in cots at the moment. One 19 month old and one 7 week old.
ReplyDeleteI have a travel cot for my 19 month old for when we take her to visit family up north, but can see it being a huge ordeal carry two of the things! (Yup, it's the older style travel cot I have for her).
I think the magic bed could possibly be a lifesaver with me having to use trains (it's the changeovers that are a nightmare when carrying everything).
I would love this so I get a night just with my husband, going out for a dinner (which we havent done in ages) and having a proper lie-in, while the little ones sleep at nanny and grandads :)
ReplyDeletei need one so i can take my grandson to the seaside for the first time.
ReplyDeleteThis would be wonderful for my nephew so i can steal him to stay more often
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for the granchildren when they come to stay.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for my little ones. We have two at home and no travel cot, where will they sleep?
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to have my new Granddaughter (18 days old) to stay when she' a little bigger. My daughter in law will probably think of reasons why I can't (my son would be fine with it) such as I've got nowhere to put her (that is only because I gave them my travel cot for their older daughter). It would be nice to say yes I have!!
ReplyDeleteLovely treat for our new-born Grandaughter
ReplyDelete
