5 Tips to Help Make Your Child More Health Conscious

It's no secret that childhood obesity rates are on the rise, and this is a trend that we need to start reversing now. One of the best ways to do this is by making our children more health conscious at an early age.

Here are five tips that should help your child become more health conscious.

Lead by example

The first and most important thing you can do to help your child become more health conscious is to lead by example. Try to replace unhealthy snacks with healthier alternatives, and make sure that you are eating a balanced diet yourself. This will set an excellent example for your children that will stay with them for years to come. In addition, try to be active and incorporate physical activities into family outings. Show your children that exercise is fun!

Talk to them about nutrition

It's important to start talking to your child about nutrition from an early age. 

Explain why certain foods are better for their bodies than others.  Isolate one or two food groups, such as fruits or vegetables, and encourage them to try different varieties of these foods each week. This will help them understand the importance of a balanced diet, as well as increase their awareness of healthy food options available.

Make healthy meals together

Younger children are often more likely to try new, healthier foods if they have been involved in the cooking process.

Limit processed foods

It's all too easy to lose track of snacks whilst staring or scrolling at a screen.

Schedule regular dental appointments
