I've done the 5:2 plan several times before and, on the whole, it does give me results. The notion behind it is that for 2 days a week, you cut your calorie intake to just 1 quarter of your usual amount (approximately 600 for men, 500 for women). The other 5 days? Just be your normal self when it comes to eating!
It's a way of cheating for me - I don't feel like I'm dieting so it's easier to do.

It's often difficult to work out just 500 calories worth of food for your fast days so, historically, I have found ready-portioned products a bonus. It's also super handy for lunch times at work!
Providing healthy meals for fast days, delivered to your door, Fast Diet Kitchen have sent me 4 weeks of their plan in collaboration with Ideal World TV. This consists of 8 lunches and 8 mains all created by their very own FDK chefs. With FDK there are no recurring subscription payments and no contracts to be tied into. Simply pay a one-off cost and receive your supply.
First impressions? The food packages have colour - which I'm thrilled about! I particularly like the colour coding (green for lunch, purple for main) and the calorie contents splashed on the front. So handy.

This week is a difficult one for me - you'll know why if you read my recent post about my Dad, so, as of Monday next week - when I'm focused and in a better state of mind - I'll be embarking on the 5:2 plan once again for the purpose of reviewing their menu... and hopefully losing a few pounds during the process.
I'll check in with you all next week - wish me luck guys!

Disclaimer: I've been sent the above pictured products for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own.
My very lovely flatmate had a lot of success with the 5:2 diet, and it definitely seems like a popular diet choice at the moment. Good luck! x
ReplyDeleteI did the 5:2 diet about 18months ago and it was quite successful. The biggest danger in not succeeding is if you don't meal planits easy to slip into bad ways, but the benefit of the FDK is its all planned ahead for you.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried this diet although a couple of my husbands collegues have. I would imagne these products would be really handy!
ReplyDeleteI tried this diet, but it was too hard with my busy days. But these products seem like the perfect thing to have in when dieting :D
ReplyDeleteOooh that sounds like a good plan! I was thinking of doing this myself when I stop breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteThe fast diet kitchen is great for convenience. We reviewed them a few months ago. I decided 5:2 wasn't for me though, and some of the meals were not to my liking, but it is all down to personal tastes. Good luck on your four week journey!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like FDK is a good plan, i'll have to give it a try. x
ReplyDeleteOhh I like the sounds of this, the 5:2 plan sounds like something I could actually manage as I don't do well with completely denying myself goodies. x
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this, I am not sure I would be able to stick to those 2 strict days and I would feel miserable but I think I am just greedy hehe. I am trying to work with being good (but not too good) through the week and having a treat on a weekend. But sadly motivation is a bit lacking for me at the minute!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely fail on the fast days! The soups look fabulous
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this, looks quite nice compared to others
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like what I should try ,thanks for sharing x
ReplyDeleteI have tried lots of diets in the past but none have worked for me as of yet. I would love to give this diet a try.
ReplyDeleteI have never dieted but my hubby is currently trying to lose weight, maybe this would be an option for him x
ReplyDeleteLooks convenient, and soups are very filling.. but I would probably get tad bored of soups everyday!
ReplyDeleteNow, the 5:2 is one I've never tried, and I've tried them all and bought the XXL t-shirt! I hope you get the results you are looking for! x
ReplyDeleteThe 5:2 I have never tried but have heard people having fantastic results, hope you get back on track soon x
ReplyDeleteNow this I am liking the sound of, especially as I am a huge fan of soup in general x
ReplyDeleteyou've already found the key for losing weight - not dieting. i actually find the 5:2 plan really good but i try and stick to a med diet as it suits me and it's delish x x
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this diet but I must check it out :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great diet, I can't eat anything like this unfortunately as it plays havoc with my IBS.
ReplyDeleteThis diet sounds so weird. I love how the Fast Diet Kitchen send you the exact meals that you need though.
